Dear Wyomissing Area JSHS Parents/Guardians

Good afternoon Wyomissing Area families, I hope this message finds everyone healthy, safe, and well.  As all Pennsylvania schools remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, we will continue to communicate all updates as we receive them, and work in collaboration with our students and staff in an effort to best support them.

Instruction Update:

June 1-5 there will be no new instruction or assignments for students.  Students will have this week to make up any missed work, and teachers will still be available during their office hours.
Teachers will continue to be available between the hours of 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. for our students to contact them with any questions.
Email  One2One@wyoarea.org to submit a help request to the technology department.

Attention Seniors:

The Class of 2020 "Senior Movie" will make its world premiere on Friday, June 5th at 8:30 p.m. at the Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex (3103 Papermill Road, Reading, PA 19610). The presentation will be hosted in a drive-in format, with a 40' screen and FM sound provided by FunFlicks, Inc. and will last approximately one hour. Due to limited parking, this is a seniors-only event. We are also asking for only one car per family and all attendees will be asked to remain in their vehicles at all times to comply with social distancing requirements.
Seniors and their families should begin to arrive around 8:10 p.m. This information has also been posted on the Class of 2020 Schoology page. We thank the Body Zone for hosting this event for us as well as Redner’s Markets for helping to fund this event for our seniors.
Please note and plan accordingly: The Body Zone is currently closed and will not be open for this event; therefore, there will be no restrooms available.
Commencement is still planned for July 31, 2020. We are developing several different options of what the 2020 commencement will look like according to the direction and restrictions given to us by the State guidelines. Seniors will be given a chance to review and provide feedback on the possible options when they pick up their caps and gowns.  Any students who wish to not participate in commencement in July may pick up their diplomas after June 5th by appointment at the high school.

Once parked, you will use the sidewalk to enter the building at the main entrance by the flag pole.   Parking Diagram is attached.

Spring Sports Collection:
Thursday, June 4th, from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. is the last remaining date for all Spring athletes to return uniforms and district supplied equipment.
We will be coordinating a drive-up drop off located at the Field House driveway entrance. Student Athletes pull up on the Field House side of Evans Avenue and turn in their uniforms and equipment to Mrs. Auman and Mr. Ferrandino. We will also be collecting any athletic obligations at this time.

Attention Fall Athletes:
The Wyomissing Area Athletic Department will open Fall Sports Registration for all students currently in grades 6 – 11 on June 1st through a new digital platform, PlanetHS. This new platform will allow parents and students, to complete and access athletic forms via computer, tablet or mobile phone. It is HIPAA, COPPA and FERPA compliant. More Information regarding the Sign-Up process can be found be found by clicking the following link: https://www.wyoarea.org/departments/athletics/registration___physicals

Lunch/Breakfast:
Lunch will be distributed Monday, June 1st and Wednesday, June 3rd of next week.
Due to the parking lot repaving, anyone wishing to pick up a lunch must enter the parking lot at Evans and Girard Ave and pick up the lunch at Door #7.  You will see the table and lunches set up at that entrance.
Beginning Monday, June 8th we will be continuing our summer meal distribution through Monday, June 29th at all three buildings, following the same scheduling Monday’s and Wednesday’s from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm. Please note that the same Evans/Girard entrance will be used at the JSHS for the entire month of June distribution.  Our food service team is very enthusiastic to continue our emergency meal program for the WASD community.
