Internships
Explore Your Future with the WASD Internship Program
The Wyomissing Area School District Internship Program gives juniors and seniors the chance to step into the real world and explore careers that interest them. Through hands-on, professional work experiences, students build important employability skills while learning what it’s really like to work in fields such as business, education, non-profits, and more.
Students complete internships during the school day with an adjusted schedule, after school, or on weekends. Along the way, they work closely with an Internship Advisor, reflect on their experiences through weekly assignments, conduct professional interviews, and connect what they’re learning on the job to career-related research.
Internships can earn up to three credits per school year and receive honors-level weighting. Students interested in education careers may also enroll in the Education Internship as a Dual Enrollment course through Reading Area Community College, earning potential college credit while still in high school.
This program is a great way to gain experience, explore careers, and prepare for life after graduation.

Internship Fast Facts for Students
Potential Interns:
Thank you for taking the time to consider an internship for the current or upcoming school year. Our internship program helps students to immerse themselves in specific career fields and areas of study, often outside of the traditional school setting.
Participating in an internship is a rewarding, but added responsibility for any student. We have outlined our program below to help you make an informed decision about your participation.
Students choose the length of their internship based on individual schedules and goals:
• Semester Only, (Late August – Mid-January OR Mid-January – Early June)
• Full-Year, (Late August – Early June)
• Hours are dependent upon student schedule — varies from 5 hours a week to 10 or more hours per week.
Internship times are flexible—some occur during the school day, while others occur outside of the school day during evenings/weekends. Experiences may be paid or unpaid. If driving, students must provide a valid driver’s license and auto insurance card.

Internship Supervisors

Internship supervisors are considered school district volunteers and as such are required to obtain clearances.
- Internship students are evaluated regularly by their supervisor.
- The Internship Coordinator will provide support and oversight throughout the program. The coordinator will be available to address any questions or concerns that may arise.
- Your interest and support of the program is greatly appreciated!
If you are interested in beginning an internship for this year or next year, please review the Community Partnership form below under “Employers”.
