Dear Wyomissing Area JSHS Parents/Guardians

Good afternoon Wyomissing Area families, I hope this message finds everyone healthy, safe, and well.  As all Pennsylvania schools remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year, we will continue to move forward with on-line instruction, communicate all updates as we receive them, and work in collaboration with our students and staff in an effort to best support them.

Instruction Update:

All students are expected to log on to Schoology and check their WASD emails every day and communicate with their teachers when necessary. All teachers will continue to post resources and assignments to Schoology at least three days per week.

·      Teachers will continue to be available between the hours of 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. for our students to contact them with any questions.

·      Email  [email protected] to submit a help request to the technology department.

·      Despite the school closure, it is our responsibility and expectation that every student participates in learning and instruction from now through the end of the school year on June 5, 2020.  All assignments will count toward your final grades for the 4th marking period and are expected to be completed.

Locker Cleanouts:

·      Wyomissing Area Jr./Sr. High School locker cleanout will take place from Tuesday, May 19 through Friday, May 29, weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Groups of 10 students at a time may sign up for one 15 minute shift via Signup Genius on the Jr./Sr. High School homepage at http://wasdwjsh.ss18.sharpschool.com/

·      Students will enter the building at the main entrance by the flagpole where they will check-in in the front lobby for their respective timeframe.  No student will be allowed in the building outside of his/her registered timeframe and no family members will be permitted in the building.  If a student needs assistance carrying any items out, help will be provided.

·      Students are expected to arrive on time for their appointment with a face mask, gloves, and a bag to store their items.  We will also have these items available in the front lobby.  Students will be given no more than 10 minutes to clean out their lockers and then must promptly exit the building at Door 7, in the English wing.  This is the same entrance that students use to enter the building from bus drop off in the morning.

Senior Slideshow:

·      The district would like to recognize our senior class in creative ways while we continue with distance learning, and a brief survey has been posted on the Class of 2020 Schoology page with a few questions that we would like seniors to answer. Seniors, if you have not already done so, or have not already shared your information with the Class of 2020 Instagram account, please respond to the Senior Spotlight discussion post on Schoology as soon as possible so that the Communications team can begin compiling responses. We appreciate your participation and look forward to recognizing you in the coming weeks.

Lunch/Breakfast:

·      We will continue to serve meals at all three buildings on Mondays (for Monday and Tuesday) and Wednesdays (for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday).  Come see us at any of our three buildings between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.; we love to see our students.

Additional Information:

·      Please visit our District website for all past communications, helpful links, and community resources at the following link: https://www.wyoarea.org/departments/health_services/coronavirus

Thank you all and be well.
