School Based Mental Health Resources

STUDENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (SAP)

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) is designed to help students who are experiencing academic difficulty due to mental health issues or substance abuse.  The goal is to remove non-academic barriers that prevent achievement. SAP services are available for students in all grades, K-12 and include individual assessments to assist with service recommendations and resources. This may also include psycho-educational support groups.

How can I make a referral to SAP?
Contact your student's school counselor to request the SAP process.  Be prepared to share concerns and a reason for desiring SAP services with the school counselor.  The school counselor will follow through with the referral.

SCHOOL BASED THERAPY - EMPOWERMENT BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

Empowerment Behavioral Health is a local private counseling practice that partners with the Wyomissing Area School District. Their counseling staff offers counseling sessions during the school day, in a private office within the school building. Student's privacy is protected. Participation in counseling is always confidential. The therapists work collaboratively with the school when scheduling sessions, to ensure the student's academics are not negatively impacted. Contact your school counselor for help getting started or feel free to reach out to the Empowerment Behavioral Health (EBH) office directly. Contact EBH to inquire about the health insurance plans that are accepted by their office.
